How to Program a Dish Network Card

The Dish Network card is the size of a credit card. The card tells the receiver what channels are included in your package once it is programmed. Every two years, Dish Network will send a new card with which to reprogram the receiver. Follow the steps outlined here to program your Dish Network card.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the television. Turn on the Dish Network receiver. Access the "System Information" screen by pressing "Menu" on the Dish Network remote control.

    • 2

Select option 6 under the system setup. Select "1" under the installation panel on the screen, then select 3 under the system information. This will take you to a screen where you will need to match up numbers.

    • 3

Match the receiver ID numbers. Look at the top of the plastic card you have been issued to put into the receiver. There should be a number at the top of the card. Make sure it matches the number on the screen next to "R00."

    • 4

Locate the front panel on the receiver. It is usually on the left side. Flip open the panel and insert the card into the slot. A message should appear on the screen stating that you have successfully programmed your card. It will tell you that there is no further action necessary.

    • 5

Wait for 20 minutes. The receiver will program the information from the card and the channels that are under the program you selected. Verify the programming after 20 minutes pass by flipping through your channels.
