How to Hook Up 3 Receivers to DIRECTV

With DIRECTV, you can have one, two, three or even four TV's hooked up. This can be done in one of two ways. You can have a dish with the right number of coax hook ups or you can hook up additional TV's to one receiver. To hook up three receivers to DIERECTV, you need a satellite dish that has a place for three coaxes. If your dish is only for two receivers, you will have to call the company and ask for a new dish and a receiver. You can get the satellite dish and receivers free.

Instructions

    • 1

Hook up the satellite dish with the three coaxes and run them into the home to the available TV's. You will need a DIRECTV dish that is meant for three or more receivers.

    • 2

Connect each coax to the receiver's input. This is on the back of the receiver on the right.

    • 3

Connect the short coax that comes with the receiver from the output on the receiver to the input on the TV. If running the DIRECTV through a VCR or DVD recorder, run the output into the VCR or DVD input. Then run another coax from the output of the VCR or DVD to the input of the TV.

    • 4

Set the remote control to control the receiver according to the directions in the user manual. This usually requires looking up the model number on the back of the receiver and finding the code for that model in the user manual.

    • 5

Insert the DIRECTV card into the receivers after writing down the ID number. Turn on the receiver box and turn on the TV to channel 3. Call the DIRECTV Company to activate the first card. Then activate the second card and the third card with a representative.
