Identify the companies in your area that provide cable television and Internet using your local business directory or any number of cable provider directories available online (See Resources). In some places, one or two cable companies will control the entire market, while in other places, multiple cable companies, both national and local companies, will compete against each other to provide Internet and television service.
Choose the types of TV and Internet options you'd like to include in your cable package. Many companies offer additional options to go with basic cable TV and Internet hookups, such as digital TV recording devices, high-speed Internet booster packages, premium channel packages (HBO, Cinemax, etc.), as well as discounted rates for bundling services such as TV, Internet and phone together in one package.
Contact each of the cable providing companies, and ask about their service rates for the package you've built.
Compare the rates and service contracts provided to you by each of the companies you contacted. Choose the package and rate with which you are most comfortable.
