How to Activate the Self-Destruct Sequence on the Enterprise

You've just been given a commission as Captain of the starship Enterprise. This isn't just any galaxy-class starship. It's the flag ship of the Federation. The problem is hostile aliens have captured the ship and all attempts to free yourself and the crew have been thwarted. You can't have the flag ship falling into enemy hands, so there is only one option left: self-destruct. Now if you could only remember how to initiate it.

  • Commanding officer
  • Senior officer
  • Access to Enterprise's engineering section
  • Working Enterprise computer

Instructions

    • 1

      Go to Main Engineering with a senior officer, preferably the First Officer.

      Press fingertips onto the identification panel in Main Engineering and wait for the computer to confirm identities. Both officers must do this.

      Say, "Initiate auto-destruct sequence." The computer will then state, "Does [name of senior officer] concur." The senior officer must give an affirmative answer and repeat the request before you may continue with the sequence.

      Give a time interval for the auto-destruct countdown when the computer prompts you with "Desired time interval."

    • 5

      Wait for computer to confirm that the auto-destruct sequence is initiated with the appropriate time interval before removing your fingertips from the panel.
