Use a shielded guitar chord and an adapter that takes the 1/4-inch jack down to a 1/8-inch jack so you can plug the guitar cord into your laptop computer's Microphone input. On a desktop computer, you can use either the Microphone input or the Line in input. The Microphone input lets you use the Microphone Boost setting in the advanced sound menu for a louder guitar sound.
