TiVo & DVR Functions

TiVo, Inc., founded in 1997, produces digital video recorders, or DVRs, that allow viewers to record television programs and watch them at a later time. TiVo DVRs can also be set up to access videos from movie-rental services and to access content from the Internet.
  1. TV-related functions

    • The "Season Pass" function on TiVo allows viewers to record every episode of a particular program. The "WishList" function on TiVo automatically records other shows you might like based on the subject matter, actors and other factors of the shows you tend to record.

    Remote-control features

    • TiVo DVRs allow viewers to pause, rewind or fast forward shows they are watching or have recorded, using their remote controls. Other functions available are instant replay, slow motion and a 30-second skip. You can even use these functions while watching live shows. A picture-in-menu window allows TiVo users to watch their show while they navigate a menu of other options.

    Other functions

    • Viewers can configure their TiVo DVRs to access a selection of movies from companies such as Netflix, Blockbuster on Demand and Amazon Video on Demand. Other functions allow TiVo users to access YouTube videos, news and a selection of podcasts from the Internet.
