Famous Anime Series

Anime refers to the ever-present Japanese animations that have circulated globally for the past few decades. It draws its influence from Japanese comics called manga, historical events and contemporary news. Manga are often adapted into anime series. As opposed to American cartoons, the viewership for anime extends beyond kids. Many anime series are intended for adults and contain insightful dialogue and complex story plots. Many anime series are noted for their art style and captivating sense of fantasy.
  1. "Pokemon"

    • Widely known and well-received by all ages and especially younger kids, the "Pokemon" series revolves around the adventures of Ash Ketchum and his sidekick Pikachu. Ash Ketchum declares that he wants to be the best Pokemon trainer ever. To achieve this goal, he wanders around the world looking for different Pokemon to catch and own in his red and white colored Pokeballs. There are 150 different Pokemon he can catch and own, and these Pokemon will evolve into stronger versions of themselves if you train them well and maintain their health. Ash is supported by his sidekick Pikachu, a kind of yellow mouse Pokemon that can generate and channel electricity. The duo encounters many foes along the way, including Team Rocket who repeatedly tries to foil Ash's plans for greatness.

    "Dragonball/Dragonball Z"

    • In "Dragonball/Dragonball Z," a character named Gokuu is a member of a race that tries to obliterate all humans. The storyline is extensive, and covers Gokuu's life as a boy to his life as a man with a son. Dragonballs have the power to grant wishes once you collect enough, and thus everyone tries to find them. Seven Dragonballs grants you a wish, but each wish must not be the same. Many fatalities happen along the way so the wishes are usually used to bring someone back to life. The original manga series was entitled Dragonball and serves as the name for the spinoff anime series. The second anime series was named Dragonball Z, but has no associations to the original manga series.

    "Sailor Moon"

    • "Sailor Moon" tells the story of Serena, a 14-year-old student who wants nothing but to play video games and eat ice cream. She discovers that she is the reincarnated form of the Moon Princess, who reigned over the Moon Kingdom that was eradicated by the Negaverse some time ago. With the help of her cat, Luna, her fellow Sailor Scouts, and some newly acquired powers, Serena fights the Negaverse and attempts to reclaim her fate.

    "Akira"

    • "Akira" takes place years after World War II in post-apocalyptic neo-Tokyo. A few reform school boys encounter a boy who has strange powers. As time passes on, they find out that other people with similar conditions exist. The government is suspected of creating or suppressing these people. One of the boys begins to exhibit powers and becomes captured and tested.
