Television Stations in Montgomery, Alabama

There are approximately 25 different local television stations serving the Alabama state community. Of those, five are located in and/or service the city of Montgomery directly. The individual stations are affiliated with bigger networks such as ABC and CBS to provide programming. Each station provides local news reports in addition to regularly scheduled programming.
  1. WSFA

    • NBC-affiliate WSFA is a TV station licensed to Montgomery. This station is owned by Raycom Media and is located on East Delano Ave. in Montgomery. It broadcasts on VHF channel 12 and you can also access it on Knology and Charter channel 11. As of March 2011, programs that you can watch on WSFA include "Judge Judy," "Judge Joe Brown" and "The Insider." The station also has a news broadcast. The stations slogan is "Coverage, Community, Commitment."

    WAKA

    • WAKA is a stationed that is owned by CBS, licensed to Selma, and that serves the Montgomery, Alabama area. This station comes on channel 8 with basic cable programming. You can watch shows such as "Dr. Phil," "Wheel of Fortune" and "The Doctors" on this station. WAKA also airs daily and hourly news segments. Tim Lennox is the weekday morning news anchor. The slogan for this station is "CBS News is everywhere."

    WNCF

    • WNCF is an ABC affiliated TV network servicing the Montgomery, Alabama area. It airs shows such as "The Maury Show," "Divorce Court," and "The Rachel Ray Show" on channel 4. It was the third station added to the Montgomery area as of 1954. It began airing a news report in the 1980s. Previous station slogans have included "The Heart of Alabama" and "Where News Comes First." WNCF airs a program called "Manhunt Monday" that is paid for by the Montgomery Sheriff's Office and calls attention to wanted criminals.

    WCOV

    • The WCOV station is a member of the FOX TV network that serves the Montgomery, Alabama area. This station airs on channel 20. As of March 2011, shows that you can watch on WCOV are "American Idol," "Glee," "Two and a Half Men," and "So You Think You Can Dance." There's also the daily Fox news broadcast. WCOV's mission statement is "WCOV will strive to entertain, inform, and educate our community."

    WIYC

    • WIYC TV changed its station name from WRJM 67, a UPN affiliate, in November 2009. WIYC can be watched on channel 48 in Montgomery, Alabama. The station calls itself "The Country Network" and covers local country music, entertainment and news. It plays country music videos all day long and claims to reach 300,000 households throughout the South Central Alabama area. This TV station is owned by Enterprise Capital Group. The station slogan is "It's Your Country."
