How to Audition for a Disney Movie

You must be a top performer in order to qualify for a Disney movie audition. Competition for the few acting, dancing and singing roles that come open is intense. Performers from around the world set their sights on landing a role in a Disney film. One big break can launch a career that will lead to untold fame and fortune. But if you're an unknown actor, singer and dancer who doesn't have a Hollywood agent or previous experience in another high-budget Hollywood film, one way to get the folks at Disney to see your talent is to begin by auditioning for roles in Disney's theme parks and cruise line. Talented performers are cast each month, and that could be the break that will put you on a Disney movie set.

Instructions

Read the Disney audition calendar. Auditions for actors, singers and dancers are held all over the world. Auditions in the United States are primarily held in Orlando, Fla., North Hollywood, Calif., and New York City. Details for each audition are provided on the site. Some auditions are open casting, with the address, time and date posted on the site. Other audition notices provide an email link and require you to send the casting department a request for an audition.

Arrive at the appointed audition location at least 15 minutes before your scheduled audition. The additional time will be needed for you to check in, supply the casting representative with your head shot and resume, and prepare for the audition. Disney casting calls are closed auditions. That means that no one but the person auditioning and Disney casting staff are allowed in the audition room.

Prepare two musical pieces if you're a singer. Bring sheet music in the proper key and select 16 bars from each piece to perform. Actors should prepare a one-minute comedic monologue. Dancers should come dressed appropriately to perform. Some will be instructed in advance to prepare particular kinds of movement pieces. Others will be given on-the-spot directions.
