How to Apply for Amazing Race

Imagine racing around the world to win a fortune. No, this isn't Jules Verne's famous novel, "Around the World in 80 Days;" it's the premise of CBS's reality series, "The Amazing Race." Teams of two or four people race around the world to see who will be the first to complete the journey and win a million dollars. To apply for "The Amazing Race," follow these steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the website. The CBS website for "The Amazing Race" (TAR) has information on applying, application forms and dates and locations of the casting calls. Applications are only taken during specific time periods, so check back frequently to see when applications are being accepted.

    • 2

Get a teammate. All applications must be for a team and the team members must submit their applications together. Usually, team members must be over 21 years old; exceptions may occur when TAR has family competitions.

    • 3

Meet the eligibility requirements. Some of the eligibility requirements include US citizenship, a valid passport, willingness to receive vaccinations and submit a medial report. The website contains the complete eligibility requirements.

    • 4

Complete the application. The application asks for standard information, such as name, address and phone number. It also includes short reply questions, regarding the relationship between the team members. Be sure to complete all portions of the application for "The Amazing Race."

    • 5

Attend a casting call. Casting calls are held at local CBS affiliates throughout the country. Check the website for participating affiliates, as well as the date and time of the casting call. Arrive at the casting call early; it may be crowded. Team members must attend together and bring the completed application. Check with the local affiliate for additional information.

    • 6

Apply by mail. For those who cannot attend an open casting call, mailed applications will be accepted. Team members must mail their applications together, along with a 3-minute VHS video tape of the team members explaining why they should be on TAR. Also included in the mailed application packet should be proof of a valid U.S. passport (or proof of application) and a passport size photograph. Be sure to mail the package so that it arrives before the deadline.

Be selected for the finals. Candidates who are selected from the first round of applications will proceed to the final selection process. Team mates will go to a selected city for additional interviews. The actual contestants will be selected from this pool.
