No matter how many satellite channels you receive or DVDs you get in the mail, there's still nothing like catching a movie at the theater. Today, you can check movie theater listings online, by phone or in the newspaper. Whether it's a matinee or midnight special, it's always a good time for freshly popped corn and the big screen.

Instructions

  1. Search Movie Listings Online

    • 1

Peruse show times by visiting one of the online movie ticket agencies, such as MovieTickets.com or Fandango (see Resources below). Several big companies sell tickets in conjunction with chain movie theaters. This option is appealing to moviegoers who want to avoid long lines or prefer buying tickets in advance. But you don't have to buy tickets to check out the listings.

    • 2

Enter your zip code and name of the movie in the search boxes at the movie ticket website. The results will show all the theaters in your area that are running the movie. Click on a theater to view the show times and a synopsis of the movie.

    • 3

Select one of the big Internet service providers such as AOL or Yahoo! to find movie listings (see Resources below). Look for an "Entertainment" tab at the homepage of the site and a "Movies" sub menu. Have your favorite theater in mind to give you a good starting point for the search.

Call the box office of the movie theater you frequent to hear a list of movie times, prices and details. Sometimes you can get information local to the theater that you might not get online, such as technical difficulties.

    • 5

Try an automated toll free number to get movie times and tickets. Two popular options include 777-FILM and 1-800-FANDANGO. Much like their online counterparts, these phone numbers provide times and ticket purchasing options for theaters across the country.

Open your city newspaper to find movie listings. Turn to the entertainment section, which is usually printed each Friday. The listings are broken down by theater, movie and time slot. If you don't want to buy the paper, visit your locally library to take a peak.
