How to Create Animated Movies

Animated movies offer a fun and unique way to teach children about good behavior, teach students unfamiliar concepts and topics, as well as share information about family and individual history with others. You can make an animated movie at home or at school using an editing program. Once your animated movie is finished, arrange a screening--complete with popcorn and soda--just like at your local movie theater.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw each frame of your animation movie on paper. Start with the first frame and continue drawing each frame until the animation movie is complete. Match the dimensions and style of the first frame throughout.

    • 2

Lay out the first page, which represents the first frame of your animation movie, on a flat surface. Light the area with a desk lamp to eliminate shadows.

    • 3

Film each page as an individual snapshot.

    • 4

Import the images to your computer. If you are using Windows Movie Maker, click "Import Pictures." Right-click on each image and then click on the box at the top that says, "Add to Time Line."

    • 5

Edit the images using editing software such as Windows Movie Maker, GIMP or Free Art Software. Save the animation movie to your desktop or hard drive to prevent data loss. Add music and sound effects, if necessary. Click "Video Effects."

    • 6

Watch the animation movie by clicking, "Play Time Line."
