As you purchase your tickets to the movie, the box office attendant should have 3D glasses for you to take into the theater. The glasses are key to the entire viewing experience, without them, you will be unable to watch the film successfully. The glasses typically add several extra dollars to the ticket price, and different theaters have different rules about whether you can keep them after the movie.

Ask the attendant or usher whether the entire film is in 3D or just specific sections. Many 3D movies only have some segments of 3D, which makes watching the entire movie with 3D glasses difficult and unpleasant. Knowing how much 3D is in the movie and when the effect begins makes the film experience much smoother.

Though advances in technology have reduced many of the headaches and eye pain that accompanied 3D movies of the past, viewers still occasionally complain of nausea. If you start to feel uncomfortable while watching the film, try taking the glasses off for a few moments and giving your eyes a moment to rest. Also try to keep your focus on the action in the foreground, or front of the scene. If the problem continues throughout the movie, you may want to stop watching the film.
