How to Create Animation Movies

You can create an animation movie on your computer with programs already downloaded and installed. Though some programs available online have special features, such as allowing you to make changes to the animation easily, programs already in your computer, such as Paint and Windows Movie Maker, work well, especially when used in combination.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Paint program on your computer and draw a basic figure. For example, you can draw a stick figure. Save the image and name it something like “picture1.”

    • 2

Make a slight difference to the image. If you want your animation to be of a man waving his hands, change the picture by elevating the man’s hand a little. Save this image as “picture2.” Repeat this step making slight changes to the picture and saving the picture with a different name each time until you have completed all the steps to get the man to wave. Name the pictures “picture3,” “picture4,” and so on.

    • 3

Open the Windows Movie Make program on your computer and import all the pictures created in Paint by selecting File/Import into collection, selecting all the pictures, and clicking “Import.”

    • 4

Drag each picture down into one of the frames at the bottom of the screen. Make sure the pictures are in order, for example picture1 should be in the frame farthest to the left, picture2 in the frame directly to the right of the first frame, picture3 directly to the right of that frame and so on.

    • 5

Click “Show Timeline” above the frames at the bottom of the screen. Click on the first frame, click on the right side of the frame and drag it as far to the left as you can to make the frame only a fraction of a second. Repeat this step for every frame.

Press the "Play" button in the Windows Movie Maker movie player and watch your animated video.
