Muskogee has a population of 38,310, according to the 2000 census. Native Americans settled here before it became a railroad town. Muskogee was the most important city in the Indian Territory in the 1870s, and has grown into one of Oklahoma's "finest small cities," according to the Muskogee Chamber of Commerce.       This theater has been in operation since 1948 and boasts period architecture and art deco features. The original seats and signs have been restored. The theater has live productions and musicals and also shows movies.

      For a live theatrical experience, there is Muskogee Little Theater, which puts on a range of productions. It has an educational program, and volunteers are welcomed at the theater. Ticket prices range from $14 for adults to $10 for students and season passes are available for $55.
