Movie Theaters in Jacksonville, FL

There are a number of movie theaters in Jacksonville, Florida. While some focus on showing all of the latest blockbuster releases, others place more emphasis on smaller, independent productions. Some offer IMAX and 3D presentations, while others offer competitive rates on alternative viewing times. Whatever your interests, Jacksonville is bound to have a movie theater that catches your eye.
  1. Cinemark

    • The Cinemark theater is a large cinema that offers excellent facilities and the latest in extreme digital (XD) presentation. XD offers wall-to-wall screens and the ultimate in surround sound to ensure that every presentation is the ultimate sensory experience. As well as presentations of movies, the cinema offers special screenings of events from across the arts world, including (as of 2011) productions by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera. The theater's large facilities mean it can also act as a venue for conferences, business meetings and birthday celebrations. The cinema also has its own dedicated VIP area.

    5 Points Theatre

    • The 5 Points describes itself as a "community theater," and most of its presentations are art house movies and documentaries that are tailored to the local population. As well as one or two regular showings, the theater hosts midnight presentations, which bring a touch of late night atmosphere to proceedings. The theater offers a selection of traditional cinema food and drink (popcorn, soda), as well a range of wines and beers. The theater is the center of an independent movie network in Jacksonville called JaxIndieFilm, which aims to develop the art house film scene in the city.

    AMC Regency

    • The AMC Regency offers moviegoers both IMAX and 3D presentations. As well as showing a number of large Hollywood releases, the cinema also hosts presentations of movies under the banner AMC Independent, giving smaller productions the opportunity to sit alongside the big names on cinema listings. The theater also offers discounted rates for certain presentations (excluding IMAX and Real3D, prices as of February 2011), the most notable being $5 on Monday through Thursday before 6 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday before noon. The theater also hosts sensory friendly films, where the audience is invited to interact with the movie in a brighter, quieter environment.

    Hollywood Theaters

    • The Hollywood Theater chain is one of the biggest in America, and its branch in River City Marketplace reflects the scale and expertise of the operation. With full stadium seating, digital surround sound, free refills on popcorn and soda and arcade, the cinema offers one of the most engaging and fun movie experiences in the city. The theater shows most blockbuster releases, and its super saver and ultimate super saver tickets allow movie fans the chance to make substantial savings by buying a number of tickets in advance. Located just off Interstate 95, the theater is easy to reach.
