Movie Theaters in Sandy, Oregon

It wasn't until 2002 that residents of Sandy, Oregon, finally got their own movie theater right in town. The small town is located between Portland and Mount Hood, which is a large tourist and winter sports attraction. In addition to Sandy's own movie theater, there are numerous other theaters located nearby, giving movie buffs in the area some variety.
  1. Sandy Cinema

    • Sandy Cinemas was developed in 2002 by Prestige Developments and is the first and only movie theater in Sandy itself. This state-of-the art facility boasts 8 screens, stadium-style seating and also has 3-D capability. Located just two miles outside of the local city center, Sandy Cinema is part of the Pioneer Park development that is also home to the Paris Cafe. In January 2011, general admission matinee tickets were $7 for regular films and $9 for 3-D films, while an evening show will run $9 for regular films and $12 for 3-D movies.

    Mt. Hood Theatre

    • Located just over 10 miles from Sandy's city center, Mt. Hood Theatre is a film buff on a budget's dream. As of 2011, patrons are allowed to catch a double-feature of some of the latest Hollywood blockbusters for just $4 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. The selection is not the greatest, however, as the theater only shows three movies at a time. Recent renovations include a brand-new sound system, air conditioning and Tivoli lighting in the aisles.

Regal Cinemas Stark Street Stadium 10

    • Located 10 miles west of Sandy, Regal Cinemas is a state-of-the art facility that boasts 10 screens, stadium-style seating, plenty of free parking and also offers movies in 3-D. Ticket prices aren't the cheapest here with general admission costing $8 and 3-D features costing $13.50, as of January 2011, making it one of the more expensive movie options in and around Sandy. They show many of the latest top Hollywood blockbusters.

    Hollywood Theatre

    • Located 20 miles outside of Sandy in Portland, this theater offers moviegoers a different experience. From the outside the theater is a beautiful historic landmark built in 1926, while inside it features a selection of cutting-edge independent films. As of 2011, general admission was $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. All movies are $5 on Monday. There's free parking located in the Medical Clinic lot next door.
