Good Halloween Movies for Kids

If you are looking for some good Halloween movies for children, there are quite a few available that hold back on the scares and provide good family entertainment. Halloween can be both a fun and scary time for children, and it is important not to lose sight of the fun aspect. There are many Halloween films out there that are inappropriate for children and can make the holiday less fun for any child who sees them.
  1. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (NR)

    • The film follows Charlie Brown and his best friend Linus' quest to meet the Great Pumpkin, a Santa-Claus-like person who he believes appears each Halloween night. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and other Charlie Brown friends all appear in this lighthearted film.

    Hocus Pocus (PG)

    • The film follows three witch sisters who are brought back to life 300 years after the Salem witch trials in Massachusetts. Upset over the injustices they feel they faced during life, they attempt to take over the world on Halloween night.

    Halloweentown (NR)

    • The film, which first appeared on the Disney Channel in 1998, is about a teenage girl who finds out that she is the next in line of a family of witches. The film follows her as she visits her family's hometown of Halloweentown and investigates a series of mysterious disappearances that have been occurring throughout the town.

    The Haunted Mansion (PG)

    • Another Disney film, "The Haunted Mansion" follows a workaholic dad (Eddie Murphy) who gets trapped in a haunted house with his family and is tasked with the job of getting them out unharmed. The film is lighthearted, with many of the animated ghosts being friendly and full of jokes.
