Record your own scary sound effects via the computer's own voice recorder. Alternatively, use a sound recording device with an external microphone or a mobile phone.
Think about what makes for a scary sound. For example, the sound of a door creaking slowly open, the wind on a stormy night or a blood-curdling scream, etc. Be inventive with your voice to try to recreate scary sound effects or seek out creaky floorboards to record. Record other people's scary sounds, too, to add to your scary sound effects CD.
Save your computer-recorded sound files. Give each scary sound a name. Upload other sound effects from a recording device via a USB lead or Fire-Wire and save.
Compile your CD. Decide what order your sound effects are going to occur on the CD. Open Microsoft Media Player. Place a blank CD into the CD ROM drive. Upload your sound effects files to the library. Do this by clicking on "File," followed by "Add to Library" to search your computer and open your sound files. Once the files are listed in the library, click and drag each sound file to the side bar panel. Press the burn button located at the bottom right hand corner of the screen to record your sound files to CD.
Find a free image on the Internet to download that you can use for your CD label. Use your CD Writer to burn an image on your sound effects CD, if required.
Download royalty-free scary sound effects via the Internet, if you do not wish to record your own sound effects. Save each sound file and use Microsoft Media Player to burn your sound files to CD.
