Easy Magic Trick Instructions

Magic can be fun at parties, in bars or other settings where you want to entertain some friends. While many magic tricks require a lot of practice and months of work to perfect, others take only a few minutes to learn, are easy to do and quickly transform you into a skilled magician.
  1. Mental Dice

    • With a pair of dice, a pen and paper, perform a trick that will make you appear to be a psychic. Ask for a volunteer and tell that person to roll the dice, then stack one die on top of the other while your back is turned. You will write a number on a piece of paper and then ask the volunteer to do some simple math based on the position of the dice. Your answers will match every time.

Turn away and ask your volunteer to roll the dice. Tell him to stack one die on top of the other. Once the volunteer has stacked them, glance back quickly, saying you were checking that the procedure had been done correctly but also secretly noting the number showing on the top die.

Tell the volunteer to notice that three numbers are not visible: on the bottom of the lower die and the two numbers facing one another in the stack.

Ask the volunteer to look at those three numbers and add them together without saying the answer aloud. With your back still turned, subtract the number showing on the top die that you saw earlier and subtract that amount from 14. Write the answer on paper, fold it and hand the paper to the volunteer. Both your answers will be the same.

    Hidden Object

    • Amaze a room full of guests by appearing to read the mind of a random person by identifying an object in the room that was chosen when you weren’t even there.

You need a friend to help you. Before the trick is brought up, tell your friend how the trick works. Choose a common color and ask your friend to remember it. Let the friend know that he or she will be chosen as one of two volunteers for the trick.

Tell the room full of guests that you need a volunteer. This can be anyone else besides your friend. Tell the volunteer that you’re going to leave the room and you want her to select any object in the room while you are gone and share the answer with the entire room before you return.

Once the object has been selected and revealed, return to the room and quickly select your friend as a second volunteer. Ask him to begin pointing at objects in the room. You will know when he points to the object by “reading the mind of the other volunteer.”

Your friend will begin pointing out objects. When he points to an item that is the color you agreed upon earlier, it will signal that the next object is the correct one.
