For the first trick in your routine, you will make the audience believe you were able to magically split a sponge ball into two sponge balls.
Stand behind a table to begin your routine and be sure there is a tablecloth to prevent the audience from seeing what is behind the table. This will be important for the final trick in your act.
There should be one sponge ball on the table in clear view of the audience before you begin. Squeeze a second sponge ball underneath the pinky finger and ring finger of your left hand so it cannot be seen when you pick up the other ball in your left hand, holding it between your thumb and index finger.
Hold the ball up with your palm facing forward to demonstrate that you only have one ball in your hand. Hold the palm of your right hand out and place the ball into your palm. Begin rubbing the ball across your palm with your index finger and middle finger and allow the second ball to roll down into your right palm while shielded by the rest of your left hand. Once they are side by side, rub between the balls and make it appear as though the ball splits into two. Display both balls in your left hand.
Transition to the second trick in your routine by pretending to place one of the two sponge balls into your right hand and closing the hand quickly. You will actually palm one of the balls and hold the remaining ball between your index finger and thumb. You will not have placed anything in your right hand at all.
Pull the visible ball into your left hand and make a fist. Both hands are now closed. Make a gesture with your right hand toward your left as though you are magically transporting it to the other hand. Open your right hand to reveal it is empty, and then open your left hand to reveal both balls.
Finish your routine by turning the two balls back into one. With both balls in your left hand, use the same palming technique to pretend to place one of the balls into your right hand. Close the right hand into a fist and lift it up and out toward the audience to force them to focus on it.
While you are lifting the right hand, drop your left hand to the back edge of the table and let the palmed ball drop onto the floor behind the table, and then bring your left hand back up to join the right. Open both hands to reveal only one ball remains.
