Can a person smash glass by screaming?

While it is possible to break glass with sound, the volume required far exceeds what a human can produce. Even at their peak output, human vocal cords can only produce about 150 decibels. On the other hand, sound levels capable of shattering glass, referred to as "sonic weapons", usually range from 155 to 200 decibels.

These types of weapons intentionally focus and amplify audio waves to generate significant destructive power. To put this in context, a jet engine operating at full throttle produces around 120 decibels, a rock concert can reach up to 130 decibels, and a thunderclap or a jet taking off from close proximity sits around the 150 decibel mark.

While shattering glass with one's voice remains within the bounds of science, the volume required goes well beyond human capabilities, making it practically impossible for an ordinary person to break glass through screaming alone.
