Can you make merry merigues without cream of tartar?

Yes, it is possible to make meringues without cream of tartar. Cream of tartar is an acid that helps to stabilize the egg whites and make them more voluminous, but it is not essential. You can use other acids, such as lemon juice or vinegar, to achieve a similar effect.

Ingredients:

- 4 large egg whites

- 1 cup granulated sugar

- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

Step1: Preheat oven to 200 degrees F (93 degrees C).

Step 2: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3: In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, beat the egg whites on high speed until they form stiff peaks.

Step 4: Gradually add the sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until the meringue is thick and glossy.

Step 5: Beat in the vanilla extract and salt until just combined.

Step 6: Spoon the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet, forming 12 (2-inch) mounds.

Step 7: Bake the meringues for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until they are dry and crisp to the touch.

Step 8:Turn off the oven and leave the meringues inside to cool completely.

Step 9:Enjoy!
