Was Gene horse trigger stuffed and put in his museum after death?

Gene Autrey's horse Champion, commonly referred to as "Champion the Wonder Horse" or simply "Champion", and often billed in films as "King of the Cow Horses" was stuffed after death and put on display at the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles, California. Gene Autry never owned a horse named "Trigger" and the stuffed horse often misidentified as Trigger is actually Champion. Trigger was Roy Rogers' horse.
