How to Levitate a Zippo Flame

You can use a Zippo lighter to do a large variety of cool tricks. Although a lot of those tricks require excellent dexterity, the flame levitation trick does not. The flame levitation trick uses the principles of physics to create the illusion of a floating flame. It is very easy to perform but looks quite impressive.

     Open the Zippo and light it.

     Turn the Zippo at a 90-degree angle so that the hinge is pointing downward.

   • 3

     Slowly close the cap until a very small portion of the flame is protruding from the Zippo. Do not close the cap completely. The lack of oxygen will cause the bottom portion of the flame to become invisible. The top part will look like it is floating.
