What is the irony of Beauty and Beast?

In the fairy tale "Beauty and the beast", the irony can be seen in the transformation of the Beast into a handsome prince. It is ironic that the hideous Beast turns out to be a handsome man once the magic spell is broken, suggesting that beauty is not only skin deep. The story emphasises inner beauty and personal growth over physical appearance, presenting the idea that true love can look past physical flaws to find the goodness in a person's heart.
