How to Do the Charleston Step

In the 1920s, prohibition came into effect, prohibiting people from drinking alcohol, which they continued to do illegally in secretive places called speakeasies. The women bobbed their hair for the first time, wore short skirts and, along with the men, did a dance called the Charleston, which originated in Charleston, South Carolina with origins in African dance.
