Stand with your feet apart, no wider than the width of your shoulders.
Take small steps if the music is slow. This would be for the Bolero/Rumba move. If the music is fast, move in quicker steps. This is for the Salsa/Cumbia move.
Move your hips in a swaying action as you step to your left. Slightly extend your hip out, helping to create a sway effect. Bring your feet back together.
Step across with your right foot over to your left side. This is a basic move, called the Volta, and will create a bouncing action, predominantly through the knees. Then, step across with your left foot over to your right side.
Position your foot slightly outward as you step onto the ball of your foot. Roll your foot towards your little toe. Straighten your leg as you flatten out your step. Done correctly, your body weight should be on the foot you have lowered; you should be able to stand on one leg without falling over.
