1. Start in Position:
- Partners facing each other, man's right hand holds woman's left hand, woman's right hand on man's left shoulder, man's left hand on woman's waist. Left feet slightly forward.
2. Forward Basics:
- On count 1, Man steps forward with left foot slightly diagonally; woman back on right
- Count 2, partners close feet
- Count 3 and 4, repeat stepping back on your right and closing
3. Cross Basics:
- Left forward crossed in front of right for men (crossbody forward right for women), feet together on 4
4. Side Basics:
- Step to the side: Man leads left, woman right
- Step together on 2
- Rock Step on counts 3 and 4: place weight on left, 4. place weight on right.
5. Back Basics:
- Step back on the Right foot, man back; woman, forward. On 2 partners close their feet. Repeat for 3,4 (left for lead and forward for follow)
Salsa dance is not as hard as it seems if you start with salsa classes for beginners; they'll usually go over several salsa moves for beginners and go step by step for each salsa turn pattern so there's plenty of time to salsa master the basic salsa steps.
