Prepare for the audition ahead of time. Understand what style of dance the audition is for, and whom you are auditioning for, whether it is the director or the production company. Look the part, but keep your individual style and be comfortable with your wardrobe choice.
Exude professionalism. From the moment you walk in the door, the way you behave reflects how well you will work with others if you are cast. Be polite, smile and arrive before the call time for the audition. If you are late, the casting director will not think you can be on time for rehearsals.
Be cordial to other dancers and people auditioning. The casting directors will look to see who can work well with others, and those dancers will be seen more favorably. If you are aloof and not interacting with anyone, the directors may think you will not work well with other hired dancers.
Stay calm. Give yourself a chance to learn the routine if you are not using your own choreography. Have a sense of humor, and do not get frustrated if you make a mistake.
Be yourself. Focus on the choreography and show your individual expression through your dance movements as well as the emotion on your face. Be present while you are dancing and be committed to dance to the best of your ability.
