The Brigham Young University Adult Ballroom Dance Camp is for beginner to advanced dancers, and is held in the summer over five days. The camp is in its 30th year as of 2011, and offers both the international and American styles of ballroom dancing. Participants receive up to seven hours of dance instruction from professional dancers every day of the camp. The camp also includes a mid-week banquet, awards ceremony, camp dance and closing showcase. Private lessons are available for an extra fee. In your free time, you can explore the museums at BYU's Provo, Utah, campus and use its recreational facilities. Lee and Linda Wakefield, 23-time winners of the British Formation championships, have directed the BYU Adult Ballroom Dance Camp since 1981. On-campus dorm housing is available for participants.
Ballroom Vermont is a ballroom dance camp held every summer since the late 1990s. The camp is one week long and takes place at a resort, such as the Mount Snow Grand Summit Resort in West Dover, Vermont. Take ballroom dancing classes every day in American-style foxtrot, waltz, swing, rumba, tango and cha cha. The class size is limited to no more than 13 to 15 couples. Couples have the same teacher for each class. Ballroom Vermont says its staff is among the finest in the world, including champions Jose Decamps and Joanna Zacharewicz.
Sierra Dance Center offers weekend ballroom dancing camps at its Truckee, California, facility in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The accommodations are dormitory style and meals are provided. Sierra Dance Center says that most out-of-town participants arrive late Friday night so that they can be fresh for the camp's Saturday morning start. The camp says it emphasizes "total body immersion," allowing dancers to learn very quickly. Its methods are aimed at improving technique, alignment, centering, balance and dynamic movement.
Tucson Ballroom Dance Camp, formerly known as the San Diego Dance Camp, is a week-long camp held annually at a luxury resort in Tucson, Arizona. Hosted by Ron and Karla Montez, the camp offers Latin and social dances in addition to ballroom dance. The camp is for both beginners and advanced dancers, as all classes are offered in at least two levels. Coaching staff is also available for private lessons. Tucson Ballroom Dance Camp says its dance champion coaches teach you new techniques that will improve your dancing style while ensuring you have an enjoyable experience.
