Walk It Out Dance Steps

In September 2006, DJ Unk debuted his song, "Walk It Out." It swept the nation and soon was a hit on the dance floor. The dance that is associated with this song is a "poole palace dance."
  1. Break Down the Moves

    • The Walk It Out dance is an exaggerated walk where each step features pivoting on the balls of the feet. To get the idea of the moves, practice standing on the balls of your and pivoting both feet to the left, to the right, then to the left again. Keep your knees bent and your heels off the ground as you do this. Think Chubby Checker and the Twist.

    Start Walking It Out

    • Add steps to the pivoting action. As you step to forward with your left foot, pivot both feet to the right then left. As you step forward with your right foot, pivot both feet to the left and right. Add some hip movements, keep your knees bent and move your arms any way you like.

    Get Creative

    • Add your own stamp to the dance. Lean your upper body forward and back. Add jumps and hops, and even add tap moves like the incomparable Sean and John, the tap dancers who dazzle downtown New York (see References). Make this dance your own.
