A great disco floor plan has an open space which is large enough for most of the club's patrons to be dancing at any given time. However, a huge empty dance floor can be uninviting. Think about how to break up the floor area you have available for dancing. Wherever possible, avoid the use of steps or other building features which can be tripped over in the dark.
In a disco, patrons typically want to travel easily between the dance floor, the seating area, the bar and the bathrooms. Design your dance floor so that access to the bar is not through the dancing area. Also provide sufficient space around the bar for people to wait without being in the way of other traffic or dancers.
Your disco floor plan must comply with all applicable building and safety codes. Make sure the fire exits are easily accessible and clearly marked--never block fire exits with furniture or other obstacles.
