Cleveland Shuffle Dance Steps

"Cleveland Shuffle" is a song or radio re-mix released by Mark "Big Mucci" Wynn & The 71 North Boyz in 2007. The song quickly became popular and developed into an equally popular line dance. Cleveland Shuffle dance steps are fun to learn and are sure to liven any gathering.
  1. Step to the Left and Right

    • As this dance is performed in a line, start facing the center of the room. Stand with your feet close together and your hands at your sides. Wait for "Ahhhh, do the shuffle," and then start dancing. Step to the right with your right foot. You can add some funk to it by bending both knees and letting your body go down with the step. Add a bounce as you do this so you go up a little before bending your knees and going down. Bring your right foot back to your left, and straighten your knees, returning to your original position. Step to the left with your left foot, and do the same bounce-bend thing with your knees. Bring your left foot back to your right, straightening your knees, and then repeat the steps.

    Knee Lifts and Turns

    • Step to the right with your right foot. Lift up your left knee, and pivot on the ball of your right foot, turning to the right so that you now face the back of the room. Put your left foot down about a shoulder's width from your right foot. Lift up your right knee, and put it down about a shoulder's width from your left. Lift up your left knee, and pivot on the ball of your right foot as you turn left to face the front of the room. Put your left foot down about a shoulder's width from your right foot. Lift up your right knee.

Cross Steps or Walks and Heel Clicks

    • Cross your right foot in front of your left, and put it down on the ground. Take your left foot from behind your right, place it on the ground about a shoulder's width from your right foot, and then bring your right foot to your left. Go up on the balls of your feet, and click your heels together. Cross your left foot in front of your right, bring your right foot from behind your left, and place it on the ground about a shoulder's width from your left foot. Bring your left foot to your right. Go up on the balls of your feet, and click your heels together.

    Kicks and Quarter Turns

    • Kick your right foot to the right, and place it beside your left foot. Kick your left foot to the left, and place it beside your right foot. Kick your right foot out, but instead of doing it angled away from your body, make your foot do a circle to the right--starting by going toward the back, then place your right foot beside your left. Kick to the side with the left foot, and place if beside your right. Kick to the right with your right foot, and place it beside your right. Kick to the left with your left foot, but do it in the same circular fashion as you did with your right foot, beginning by going to the back. As you are doing this circular, kick with your left foot, pivoting to the left on the ball of your right foot so that your left side is facing the center of the room. Place your left foot beside your right.

    Jumps and a Full Turn

    • Jump forward, keeping your feet together. Keep your feet together, and jump back to where you started. Turn around in the front in whatever manner you choose. You can pivot on the ball of your left foot as you push yourself with your right, or kick with your right foot as you're turning, or however the spirit moves you.
