1. Preparatory Step: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, arms relaxed by your side
2. Side Close: Step to the left, right, or forward and move the opposite arm forward (e.g., step left and move the right arm forward)
3. Side Open: Step to the side as before, but this time bring the opposite arm back as you step (e.g., step left and pull the right arm back).
4. Turn: Step to the left or right, and then turn your body in that direction. For a left turn, step left, place your right foot next to your left, then turn left.
5. Hop: On the count of 1, hop on either the left or right foot; on the count of 2, step onto the opposite foot.
Dance Pattern
1. Count off music 1-8 while standing in place
2. On the count of 1-4 perform the side close to the right
3. On the count of 5-8 perform the side open to the right
4. On the count of 9-12 perform the side close to the left
5. On the count of 1-16 repeat the side open to the left
6. On the count of 1-4 repeat the side close to the right
7. On the count of 5-8 repeat the side open to the right
8. On the count of 9-16 perform the turn. You’ll do this by stepping left and then placing the right foot next to the left as on the "side close" step, but then on count of 11, you will turn to face the left. Step on your left foot as on the "side close" on count 12, then repeat to return to the original direction you were facing.
9. On the count of 1-2 hop on the left foot, then step on the right foot.
10. On the count of 3-4 repeat the hop and step, this time on the right foot.
11. On the count of 5-8 perform the side close to the right
12. On the count of 9-16 repeat the side open to the right
13. On the count of 1-4 repeat the side close to the left
14. On the count of 5-8 repeat the side open to the left
15. On the count of 9-16 perform the turn. You’ll do this by stepping left and then placing the right foot next to the left as on the "side close" step, but then on count of 11 you will turn to face the left. Step on your left foot as on the "side close" on count 12, then repeat to return to the original direction you were facing.
16. On the count of 1-4 perform the side open to the right
17. On the count of 5-8 perform the side open to the left
18. Repeat these movements and steps to complete the dance.
