Soulja Boy Dance Step-by-Step

In 2007, a little known artist burst onto the scene with his debut album. The hit single "Crank That" by Soulja Boy had taken the music charts by storm. Enjoying a seven week stay at the very top of the Billboard Hot 100, "Crank That" was quickly added to thousands of playlist. While the song became instantly recognizable its steel pan riff, its accompanying dance grabbed the most attention on the dance the floor. Although Soulja Boy had initially developed this dance for "Crank That", its massive popularity has led his name to becoming synonymous with the dance itself.

Instructions

    • 1

      Make a small jump in the air. This is the beginning of the dance sequence. Be sure not to jump too high, as the dance only requires a small hop. This is because the next step will require some minor legwork.

      Cross one foot in front of the other. Bring the foot in the back back around to the front, moving the foot in the front to the back.

      Lift your back leg behind your right leg and tap it with you right hand. Extend your left arm slightly you do this.

      Return to a standing position and lean back. Quickly bend your knees slightly forward with both of your arms extended. As you extend your arms, click your fingers together and wiggle from side to side. Once again, return to a standing position as your finish this sequence.

      Turn your right leg to the side and step it to the left, then bring it back forward. Lift your right leg's knee and tap it with your right hand.

      Take both of your arms and put your hands together with fingers unlocked and palms facing each other. Bring your hands in towards your chest, then thrust outwards to the side while kicking your right leg backwards and balancing on the left leg.

      Turn forward and immediately bounce three steps to the left. As you do this, extend your arms towards the direction you are moving away from, while making a bouncing motion with your wrist. Repeat the sequence again in the opposite direction to the right, before bouncing to the left again. Finish by making three final bounces back to the right.

      Hop again. The sequence has now reached back to the beginning. However the dance may be repeated immediately again using the opposite gestures. The left leg must be used instead of the right leg.
