Types of Dance Classes

There are many forms of dance that vary according to location. American dance preferences may not necessarily be admired by Europeans. However, the medium or method of teaching different dance forms is the same throughout the world. Whether beginners, intermediates or experts, dancers enrolled in classes either participate in group sessions or private lessons.
  1. Group Dancing

    • Group dance classes are for those at the intermediate or beginner levels. In group dancing, dancers of all ages perform. Children, teens and senior citizens are at times part of the same group. These classes can be constructive and supportive. Any dance style can be taught in a group, including Latin, freestyle and traditional forms.

    Teacher Training

    • During teacher training, students are taught to become dance teachers. Anyone can take up teacher-training classes, as there are no prerequisites to be a part of these sessions. Students who are passionate about dancing and want to pursue a career as a dance instructor or professional enroll in teacher training dance classes.

    Private Classes

    • Private dance classes are for those uncomfortable with group dancing and prefer privacy. Here, the progress of the student is more rapid when compared to other classes. Participants are able to focus on specific dance steps and can also spend extra time on areas that need improvement. Teacher feedback is instant, as there is only one student to monitor.

    Wedding Dance Class

    • Wedding dance classes help future brides and grooms prepare for their big day. As this instruction is only for the wedding day, the song is chosen by the couple and the instructor choreographs the moves accordingly. Even people who have never danced before can participate in these classes and hit the dance floor on their wedding night.
