How to Cricket Breakdance

The Cricket is one of the most difficult moves you can perform while breakdancing, due to the fact that extreme balance and arm strength are required to pull it off correctly. It is a variation of the Turtle, which is when all of your weight is supported on your wrists and fingers while your body is up in the air; the Cricket requires you to spin around in that same position. Once you get the Cricket down, you will be able to battle your rival breakdance crews with a new move that is reserved for only the best dancers.

Instructions

    • 1

Position your body as if you were doing a Turtle freeze stance. Your elbows should be about six inches apart, with the backs of your arms resting against your stomach and rib cage. Place your wrists about three to four inches apart, with fingers facing outward. Support the weight of your body on your wrists and hands, while lifting your legs off of the ground.

    • 2

Pull your legs back toward your body so that your feet are hovering over the backs of your legs and distribute your weight evenly onto both of your hands. Be sure to master this position before attempting the next step, so that you do not fall and injure your face or your arms.

    • 3

Move one hand about 45 degrees either clockwise or counterclockwise, and then move the other hand so that they are parallel once again. Repeat this step so that both of your hands are moving in a circle formation to complete the dance move.
