How to Space Between Paragraphs in an Informal Writing Paper

An informal paper gives you more freedom to write creatively. Spacing between paragraphs is still important, though, regardless of the kind of paper you're writing. The spaces between paragraphs break up thoughts, points and ideas. They offer the reader a place to reflect on what they have already read before moving on to additional ideas. The work you do organizing the paper before you write the final draft will make spacing easier.

      Determine your paper's topic and how you will organize it.

      Outline the major points you want to convey in the paper and look through the instructions given, including how many paragraphs you should use and how many words it should be. For example, if your informal paper's topic is to write about an event that occurred during your childhood, think about the event and narrow down the details you will include in the paper.       Draft the paper, starting with the introduction as a first paragraph. Jump to the next paragraph when your idea or point changes. Using your brainstorming list, make a new paragraph for each subtopic after the main topic has been covered in the introduction. For example:

      Topic: My Favorite Movies

      Subtopic 1: Horror Movie

      Subtopic 2: Comedy Movie

      Subtopic 3: Romance Movie.

      Edit your paper carefully so that it makes sense.

      Comb through your paper and read each paragraph. Make sure paragraph breaks appear when a new thought or idea is discussed. Read your paper and edit out errors in spelling, grammar or organization.
