How to Cite a Workbook

Citations are intended to signify and credit the sources we use in a paper. The style or format of the citation varies according to the topic of the paper and the subject area or class it is for. The most commonly used citation styles are MLA (Modern Language Association--used in arts, humanities and literature) and APA (American Psychological Association--used in business, education, psychology and social sciences). All citations must adhere to the respected format and structure. Whether using MLA or APA, a workbook is generally cited the way a basic book would be. Below are directions on how to site the workbook using APA and an example of how the citation would look if MLA was used, can be viewed in the Tips section.

    • 2

Type the word “References" and center it at the top of the page.

    Indentifying the Source

    • 4

Type the last name of the workbook’s author followed by a comma (,) and the letter that their first name starts with, followed by a period (.). If there’s more than one author their names should appear in alphabetical order. For example: Spinello, S.

Add the year the workbook was published and put it in parentheses followed by another period. For example: Spinello, S. (2010).

    • 6

    • 8

Type a colon (:) after the capitalized two letter postal abbreviation and enter the name of the publisher followed by a period. For example: Spinello, S. (2010). How to cite a workbook. New York, NY: Demand Studios.
