List the title of the dictionary in Italics followed by a comma. "The New American Webster Handy College Dictionary," for example.
Give the edition, using the abbreviation ed., of the reference followed by a comma. "The New American Webster Handy College Dictionary, 3rd ed.," for example.
Write in lowercase "s.v." which stands for the Latin sub verbo, meaning "under the word." Place this after the edition. For example, "The New American Webster Handy College Dictionary, 3rd ed., s.v."
Finally, list the word being cited in quotation marks with a period after the word and inside the closing quotation mark. Write your citation like this:
The New American Webster Handy College Dictionary, 3rd ed., s.v. "notation."
If the citation does not all fit on one line the second line should be single spaced and indented below the first line.
