How to Read a Book in 1 Day

An improved memory, an increased vocabulary and a sharp mind are just a few of the benefits associated with reading. You can read a book in one day, even if you are not a speed reader. The project may require setting aside a chunk of your time, but it may be well worth it. In fact, studies conducted by Haskins Laboratory, a science language center associated with Yale University, concluded that reading is more stimulating than both listening and watching.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a book that has 300 or fewer pages. Attempting to read a very long book in just one day can be overwhelming.

    • 2

Set aside an entire day on your schedule just for reading if this is your first attempt at completing one book in a day. This will help you to enjoy the book at your own pace from morning to night without pressure.

    • 3

Carry the book with you everywhere you go. Once you have completed one book in a single day, consider taking on the same challenge on a typical day without erasing all of your plans. Keeping a book with you at all times is key to this challenge.

    • 4

Start reading before you get out of bed in the morning and finish your reading in bed before you go to sleep at night.

    • 5

Read throughout the day during usual activities such as during eating, waiting, exercising and commuting on a train or subway.

    • 6

Read every spare minute you have, and substitute reading for such activities at watching television or surfing the Web.
