The first step to reading a book a day is keeping plenty of book options around you at all times. Leave books that interest you in the living room, family room, bedroom and even bathroom. Incorporate them into your daily tasks. For instance, while watching TV, read during every commercial. Likewise, while working out, read a book as you take a break to catch your breath. You’ll want to make reading second nature.
Begin by reading a variety of short books. If a book draws you in, you might be able to read it in addition to several other books in just one day. This will help you get into a good reading mode.
Once you’ve gained the enthusiasm to rip right through one book and jump into the next, begin adding longer books while continuing to read the shorter books. These longer additions will get you used to reading longer plot structures while continuing your book-a-day goal with the smaller books.
Now that you’ve got the task of reading more than one book at a time, consider adding in a third book. Once you’ve increased your speed so that you can finish the longer books in three days or less, you can have more freedom to make all three of your book choices novel-size books and continue to finish one book a day.
