How to Cite a Health Reference Series in APA Style

APA style refers to the standards that the American Psychological Association gives to health and social science writers in the "Publication Manual of the APA," the sixth edition of which was released in 2009. APA style gives writers stylistic advice and shows you how to cite your primary and secondary sources. You should cite a volume in Omnigraphics's Heatlh Reference Series as a normal print source. Two parts will make up your APA citation: an in-text citation and a reference list entry.

Instructions

    • 1

Write the editor's last name and the year the volume was published in parentheses. This is your in-text citation.

      For example:

According to the "Childhood Diseases and Disorders Sourcebook" (Judd, 2009)

    • 2

Give the page number you took your text from in your in-text citation, if you use a direct quote from the volume.

      (Judd, 2009, p. 201)

    • 3

Give the editor's last name and first initials followed by the word "Ed." in parentheses, the year the book was published in parentheses, the title of the volume with only the first word and all proper nouns and adjectives capitalized and the city and state of publication separated by a colon from the name of the publisher. This completes your reference list entry.

Judd, S. J. (Ed.) (2009). Childhood diseases and disorders sourcebook. Aston, PA: Omnigraphics.
