Go to your local library and sign up for a library card if you don't have one.
Open your Web browser and navigate to your local library's website. Check to make sure they are a part of the OverDrive Media system. If not, check other libraries in your region until you find one that is.
Log in to the OverDrive system using your library card's identification number and the password associated with your library account. You will need to provide an email address the first time you enter the OverDrive system.
Look through the books and other media offered. Check the individual listings to make sure your choices are in the ePub format. Click the items you want to borrow to load them to your queue.
Navigate to the checkout when you are through choosing books by clicking the "Checkout" button. The OverDrive system will download the Overdrive Media Console to your desktop.
Click the "Download" button below each book cover to download the contents to your computer. The ePub books download to the Overdrive Media Console on your desktop or to any Reader Library installed on your desktop.
Plug in your eBook reader and transfer the ePub books to your eBook reader according to the manufacturer's directions.
Delete the books after the designated time has passed and they expire. After the due date, the books expire and you can no longer access them to read. Delete the books to free up space on the eBook reader.
