How to Filter Book Search on Kindle

Amazon offers a wealth of books, magazines and newspapers through its Kindle Store. Your Kindle connects to this resource, provided you have a wireless connection to the Internet. Using broad search terms on the Kindle Store results in countless titles, spanning numerous categories. Although strategically selecting your search terms produces better targeted results, filtering these results by category further narrows the list to a more manageable number.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Home" button on your Kindle to return to the main screen.

    • 2

Press the "Menu" button and select "Shop in Kindle Store" using the 5-Way controller.

    • 3

Enter targeted keywords in the search field. Precise keywords significantly reduce search results and filter out unrelated titles. As an example, searching for "free kindle books" produces an unmanageable number of results, but searching for "free Sherlock Holmes books" produces a short list. However, generic searches are good when you don't know what you want and feel like browsing numerous titles.

    • 4

Select "Narrow Results by Category" at the top of the search results.

    • 5

Select a broad category, such as "Kindle Books" or "Kindle Blog." If results appear only in one broad category, you're immediately presented with specific categories, such as "Nonfiction" or "Science Fiction & Fantasy."

    • 6

Select "Narrow Results by Category" again and select a specific category.

    • 7

Press the "Next Page" button to browse through the refined list of search results and select a title to view its details.
