How to Ship a Book Cheaper

Trading-and-selling new and used books is a way to ensure that an author’s hard work doesn’t end up forgotten in a dusty attic or worse yet -- in the trash. To get a book to its new destination, you will need to choose a shipping method, but the wrong choice can leave you paying more in shipping costs than the book is worth. To ship a book cheaply, try the U.S. postal service.

Instructions

    • 1

Pack the book that you intend to ship in a polyethylene bubble mailer, mailers that are self-sealing, durable, water-resistant and lighter than manila envelopes and cardboard boxes.

    • 2

Opt for media mail at your local post office. The cost of media mail shipping is determined by the weight of the package; U.S. shipping zones are not a consideration.

    • 3

Speak to the postal worker about bulk media mail for future shipments that will include a large assortment of books. This shipping service allows for a minimum of 300 pieces with a shipping weight maximum of 70 pounds.
