Ensure that all the tapes or CDs in the set are accounted for in the package and arrange them in order to simplify the process of moving from one to the next. Insert the first tape or disc into your player/stereo and begin playback.
Set the volume level to your liking once the audio begins. Eject and reverse the cassette when one side ends (for audio books in that format) if your stereo does not feature auto-reverse.
Eject the cassette or CD when it reaches its end point and insert the next one in the sequence.
Make a note of the chapter and time code at your current point in the CD if you need to eject it during playback for any reason, to make it easier to resume at the same point later. Eject at the track/chapter break if possible to eliminate fast-forwarding later.
Locate the selection of downloadable audio books available at online sources such as iTunes, Amazon.com or your local library's website. Establish an account at that chosen site.
Log in to your account, locate the title(s) you wish to download and click "Download" or "Download Now", depending on the site. Provide payment information if necessary.
Choose a folder in your hard drive for the audio file to download to (if applicable) and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the downloading process.
Double click on the file in its selected folder (or locate the title in your iTunes library), and Windows Media Player or your chosen default media player will open and begin to play the audiobook from the beginning. Make a note of your current location within the file if you need to stop and resume at a later time.
