Figure out the category of the book. To find a book at a Barnes & Noble book store, you will need to know what section or category your book is stored in, such as the mystery, comedy, magazine, children's or teen section. To find the category of a particular book within the Barnes & Noble store, you can first research their database on one of the computers inside of the store, ask the cashier to search the database or ask an associate for the location of the book.
Find a book by the title. If you know the title of a particular book, you can ask the store's associate to locate the book for you. The associate will direct you toward the area or section in the store where the book can be found. You can also search for the title of a book on one of their computers located in many sections within the store or ask the cashier behind the desk to search their computer database for their title.
Locate a book by the author. If you know the author's name of the book you are looking for, but don't remember the title of a book, you can ask an associate to look up the author's name to pull up a list of the author's book titles to help you locate the book or you can search for the author through one of their computers located in the store.
Locate the book by ISBN. The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a unique and individualized commercial book number that is assigned to published books. If you know the ISBN number, ask a Barnes & Noble associate to locate the book that you are interested in according to the book's ISBN.
