How to Publish With Avon Books

Writing a book is only the beginning. Before your work can hit the shelves, you have to submit the book to a publisher and get it accepted. The best way to publish with Avon books is to know what kind of books they are looking to accept before submitting. They accept novel-length works of romance, but often they are looking for a variety of types of romance within that genre.

Instructions

Find out if you have a work that Avon would consider by checking their submission guidelines for the genres and sub-genres they are currently accepting from authors. Some sub-genres include Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance and Inspirational Romance.

    • 2

Submit your novel-length work of romance or woman's fiction by sending a query to [email protected]. A query is not the manuscript, but a short proposal for your work that is no longer than a page. It should include a brief synopsis, a word count, and is something that will (hopefully) grasp the attention of an editor. Due to the amount of submissions Avon receives, it is helpful to make the purpose of your email as obvious as possible, so put "QUERY" in the subject line of your e-mail.

Wait for a response to your query. This should take six to eight weeks. If they request more material, send it to them. If not, look around for other publishers.
